“LD and whole life” project roles and responsibilities

Project Management

Emily Hunter: ehunter@literacy.bc.ca 

Emily handles day-to-day inquiries and communication about the project, including training events and small grant proposal submissions.

Kate Trethewey: ktrethewey@literacy.bc.ca

Kate handles the budget, expenses, claim forms and project promotion. She also collects data on project outcomes and participation.

Professional Development and Training

Betsy Alkenbrack: balkenbrack@capilanou.bc.ca

Betsy is the Coordinator of Professional Development and Training. She identifies and facilitates our monthly online training sessions, supports “whole life” project members as they implement their training events, and develops new training resources.

 Suzanne Smythe: sksmythe@sfu.ca

Suzanne assists Betsy in all matters related to professional development and training, and supports the project through research and development of resources to keep us informed and up-to-date about LD-related issues.

Librarian – Resources

Tina Chau: library@literacy.bc.ca

Tina is compiling an extensive collection of print, online and multi-modal resources related to learning disabilities in adult literacy settings. Contact Tina to borrow resources, suggest resources, and for recommendations to suit your learning setting.

Website Design and Administration

Doreen MacLean: dmaclean@literacy.bc.ca

Doreen handles the “bugs” and suggestions from the field about improvements or additions to the website.

Project Evaluation

Marina Niks: mniks@thehub.literacy.bc.ca.

Marina collects and analyses information from the field to help us respond to needs and ideas and fulfill our mandate. She is also responsible for writing interim and final project evaluations.

Book-keeping

Marj Froemgen: mfroemgen@literacy.bc.ca

Marj works with Kate to handle the project’s budget, expenses and claim forms.  She is also responsible for the financial reporting.

Partners

Shelley Hourston: wdi@bccpd.bc.ca

Shelley is the representative of the partner organization, the British Columbia Coalition for People with Disabilities. The BCCPD is an advocacy group for people with disabilities in diverse sectors and settings.
